Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Exeter Deaf Academy is recruiting volunteers to take part in a one-off awareness day in Exeter and surrounding areas.

Hospiscare is law firm's charity of the year

Exeter law firm Browne Jacobson has announced it has chosen Hospiscare as its chosen charity for 2015.

Set up over thirty years ago Hospiscare is a local independent charity providing specialist palliative care services for local people with a terminal diagnosis in the Exeter, mid and east Devon areas.

The charity cares for over 2000 patients each year, and receives its income from voluntary donations, its shops in the area and the Hospiscare lottery. They are proud of the fact that for every £1 raised, 88p is spent directly on patient care.

Staff and customers at DCH, the South West’s largest housing association,showed their support in Exeter City Centre, Princesshay Square as part of the nationwide campaign to end the housing crisis within a generation.

Freemasons donate £5,000 to local charity

Devon Freemasons have donated £5,000 to Devon Community Foundation (DCF) to help support people in need across the county.

On Thursday 12th February the Chief Executive DCF, Martha Wilkinson was delighted to be presented with the cheque by Ian Kingsbury, the Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire Freemasons.

The generous gift will be allocated to the Foundation’s Community Grants, supporting the hundreds of voluntary and community groups helping local people to build better and more inclusive communities for everyone.

Exeter charities gear up for new funding for community projects

Exeter charities came together last week to discover how social investment is an alternative source of funding for community projects.

The day was a free workshop hosted by Exeter CVS on Wednesday 18 February.

Exeter resident Thomas James is hoping to raise £1,750 for mental health charity Mind by taking part in this years iconic London Marathon.

Thomas said: "In January of last year I was struggling with my own mental health. Like most people I never thought that type of thing would happen to me. I was finally diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress. I learnt this was due to unresolved abuse I had suffered thought my childhood and early adulthood.

Holiday park hosts charity music events

One of Devon’s biggest independent holiday parks is set to host two live music events to raise money for local charities.

Ladram Bay Holiday Park, between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, is the venue for the two upcoming events.

Ben Bradshaw, Labour MP for Exeter, will be spending one night sleeping out in the Guildhall Shopping Centre in order to gain a glimpse of the challenges of being homeless.

The event is called Sleep Easy and is hosted by YMCA Exeter to help raise awareness about the growing numbers of homelessness in the city, as well as vital funds to support the charities work with vulnerable, disadvantaged and homeless young people.
