That’s the verdict from FORCE supporter Tracey Frankum after her trek of a lifetime along the Great Wall of China.

Tracey has returned to Exeter armed with a wealth of stories, hundreds of photographs and more than £1,500 raised for the city's own cancer charity from five days of walking on one of the world’s most iconic structures.

“It was an amazing experience,” she said. “The first day was in quite a commercialised area with the sort of scenery you’re used to seeing in pictures. It...

Children had lots of fun in Exeter’s Princesshay on Saturday (6 June) as they baked muffins in a free charity cookery workshop.

After donning chef’s hats and aprons they got stuck in, a shaking and a baking, making new friends and listening to the crazy instructions from head chef Joe Mann who runs Fun Kitchens.

Joe was working in partnership with local charity Hospiscare to promote the Big Devon Bake Off, September 12-20, when people are encouraged to bake cakes, invite friends and family around for a bit of a do and put out a donation bowl. A simple fun way of raising...

While Zimbabwe collapses economically and socially, dedicated conservationists continue their battle to save the country’s wildlife. This tiny antelope – an orphaned Sharpe’s grysbok – is being cared for at Dambari field station, near Bulawayo, after it was found orphaned near Hwange National Park.

You might expect the Director of the Dambari Wildlife Trust, vet Verity Bowman, to have bigger things to worry about than this fragile fawn. She spends her working day guiding her charity through the stormy seas of Zimbabwean life and trying to combat the latest rhino poaching atrocity...

EDP Drug & Alcohol Services are holding an exhibition called 'The Other Side of Addiction' at Exeter Phoenix until 27th June. The exhibition features the creative work of those who access our services in the community and our prison services, to challenge the stigma surrounding drug and alcohol misuse.

In the 2014 British Drugs Survey 38% of those surveyed knew someone who has or had a serious drug problem yet drug and alcohol misuse is surrounded by stigma and stereotypes. The reality is that there are many reasons why people become dependent on drugs or alcohol and...

Just look at her now! One year ago she was a tiny, helpless seal pup being bottle fed every few hours - she even had to be taught how to swim.

Now, Living Coasts’ South American fur seal pup Gemini moves effortlessly in her sunlit pool. Although she is not fully-grown, she’s a healthy 20 kilos, is fully independent and can stand up for herself among the other seals.

Spokesperson for Torquay's coastal zoo, Phil Knowling, said: “She is fully weaned and is hand fed sprats by the keepers. She has been mixed with the other seals but she’s now away from them in the small...

A local conservation charity is using Volunteers’ Week (1st to 7th June) to recruit people who are retired or near retirement to its “blue army” of volunteers. The Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust runs Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts in Torquay; volunteers in their blue uniforms are a familiar sight at both zoos.

At Paignton Zoo 153 volunteers supported 12 departments and donated over 22,000 hours last year. At the much smaller Living Coasts, 37 volunteers tackled 19 different roles and in 2014 gave 5,239 hours – that’s equivalent to 654 working days. In addition, the Whitley...
