LED are pleased to announce the grand total raised for the Force Cancer Charity Swim in February is over £5,138 with money still coming through!

Earlier this year swimmers across LED's five swimming pools were invited to take part in the Force Cancer Charity Swim where swimmers were asked to take part in either a 14 or 28 mile swim over the course of the month.

Fifty swimmers took part in the challenge to raise money for this local charity that has played a vital role in local cancer services for the last 26 years.

Naomi Cole, Community Fund Raiser for Force said ‘We would like to say a really big thank you to  all the staff at the LED Centres and as well of course to all the super swimmers who took part for all their efforts in the swim.  To swim such distances over the course of a month requires real commitment and dedication and we are hugely grateful to everyone involved.

Force relies entirely on voluntary donations to fund all of our services so to receive over £5,300 is incredible and will make a real difference to local people affected by cancer.’

Brian Small, who was a significant contributor to the total funds raised, said ‘My wife died of cancer 10 years ago and I was extremely grateful to Force for their care to both of us.  The swim presented an opportunity for me to say thank you in a tangible way.’

LED Area Manager, Marcus Allen said: "I’d like to say thank you to Emily Van Tinteran, who came up with the idea of the 28 mile challenge. We are pleased that so many got involved and supported FORCE, and we look forward to creating a different swimming fundraising challenge for next year."
