Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Two Exeter charities get to 'Pass GO'

Charity begins at home – the Monopoly home of houses and hotels.

Exeter Monopoly chiefs say they were so “overwhelmed” with the public’s response to news that a city charity is being given the opportunity to ‘Pass GO’ that they have DOUBLED their offer.

Exeter School's Sixth Form Charity Committee has helped raise valuable funds for local charity, Hospiscare, as well as the Karen Hill Tribes Trust run by alumnus Will Harnden.

The team held the charitable event in the school playing fields, where teams battled each other playing bubble football alongside welly throwing, face painting and a multitude of fairground games. Thanks to Laser Camp who provided the bouncy castle and inflatable football arena for free.

Bank staff set to Pedal for Pudsey

Lloyds Bank colleagues from Exeter will join forces with 1,300 colleagues across the country to raise over £300,000 for BBC Children in Need, their chosen Charity of the Year Partnership.

Colleagues will cycle the equivalent of more than twice around the world in just twenty-four hours as part of the bank’s “Pedal for Pudsey” fundraising initiatives.

Care home celebrates British Food Fortnight

RMBI care home Cadogan Court, Exeter, has celebrated British Food Fortnight with an array of foodie events including a menu of local produce from the West Country, a Macmillan’s Coffee Morning and afternoon tea.

The fortnight lasted from 19 September to 4 October in which RMBI adopted a special menu of local produce from the West Country including a full English breakfast with local sausages and eggs, pork for lunch and an afternoon cream tea.

New Children's Hospice South West shop opens in Exeter

Founder and CEO of Children’s Hospice South West, Eddie Farwell, opened the charity’s new shop in Exeter today (Thursday 1 October).

The new shop is situated on the busy Sidwell Street and shoppers were queuing to get inside on its opening day.

The new shop has a fresh modern layout with a great range of goods on offer including a dedicated children’s section, and is the result of the relocation of the charity’s existing shop in Fore Street.

Walkers raise £2,000 for Exeter Foundation

The Exeter Foundation’s annual Big Walk has raised over £2,000 for the charity.

On September 20th, nearly 100 participants walked 10 miles from Sandy Park, through Exeter’s Riverside Valley Park and back to the Rugby World Cup venue.

Building on the success of previous events, walkers enjoyed a Sandy Park pasty and drink on their return and the New Zealand v Argentina World Cup game was screened.

NatWest team tackle Three Peaks Challenge

Three mountains hiked, 49,000 steps walked and 2865 metres climbed to raise money for St Loye’s Foundation.

On the 12th of September NatWest Devon Commercial Banking tackled the Welsh Three Peaks challenge to raise funds for their charity of the year, St Loye’s Foundation.

The NatWest team of 10 set off at 6am to climb Snowdon, the first and highest mountain of the Welsh Three Peaks. Taking on wind and rain the team completed the next two peaks finishing the challenge at 7.30pm.

A Maynard School six former, Lucie Rising (17), has gone all out to improve her career prospects in the cut-throat fashion industry with an almost sell-out charity fashion show on Thursday, 8 October 2015.

Hospiscare celebrates Searle House

We celebrated last night as our city hospice was officially named Searle House in recognition of the dedicated local family which helped establish this vital service.

Our trustees, staff, volunteers and some of the founders gathered to thank Liz and John Searle and their four adult children for their contribution to the foundation and continuing success of Hospiscare. Lady Clarissa Clifford, our patron and Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, a vice-president also attended.

Some of the Searle grandchildren came along too and had lots of fun playing in the garden and hospice....
