RGB Building Supplies is delighted to announce that Exeter based charity, Farms for City Children, is the first winner of their Well Built Community Fund.

The charity will be receiving £1,000 worth of shower to use at their Nethercott site near Iddesleigh.

Back in May, the builder’s merchant asked charities from across the region to get in contact and tell them how they could help them with a project.  RGB was inundated with nominations and, after lengthy discussions, Farms for City Children was chosen to receive the donation of materials.

The charity was set up by children’s author Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare at Nethercott Farm in 1976.  It provides farming life experiences for children who would not normally have the opportunity to experience life on a rural working farm.  Nethercott opens its doors all year round to parties of schoolchildren, giving them the chance to spend a week living and working as a farmer.

Farms for City Children is currently in the process of updating the facilities at Nethercott Farm so that each dormitory has access to shower facilities; currently the children must use the original period bathrooms which are not suitable and in need of modernization.

Kerry Weatherburn from Farms for City Children, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to RGB Building Supplies for choosing us as the first recipients of their Well Built Community Fund.  As a charity, it can sometimes be difficult to pay for everything that we need to, so the support of companies like RGB is very much appreciated.”

Rob Allen, Operations Manager at RGB Building Supplies, commented: “We received some fantastic nominations and it was an extremely difficult task picking just one to receive materials.  Farms for City Children is such a great charity giving children the chance to have a completely unique experience that can have an extremely positive impact on their lives.  We are delighted to be able to help by donating £1,000 worth of shower equipment.”

Every other month RGB will be donating £1,000 worth of building materials to help and support groups in the region.  They are currently asking for sports clubs to get in contact and tell them how the donation of materials could help.

Nominations can be made by emailing RGB@pmwcom.co.uk or by sending a letter to RGB Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU.  The closing date for nominations is Monday 4 August.

RGB will be making further call outs to schools, community groups and care homes.

More information about the Community Fund is available on the special offers page on RGB’s website – www.rgbltd.co.uk.
