Local charity Rainbow Living is delighted to announce the appointment of four new Directors to their Board.

Dave Hopton, Clive Hughes, Tracey Rockey and Paul Winfield join Rainbow Living at an exciting time, as the charity embarks on its latest project, a fourth Rainbow House in Exeter.

Rainbow Living is a small, but growing, volunteer-run charity, which has enjoyed success with its unique housing model, which enables adults with learning and other disability to live with their peers in specially adapted accommodation, designed to promote and encourage independent supported living.

Each of the four new Directors have individual skills which will help Rainbow Living to develop its support base, and collectively they bring a wealth of experience which will support the charity’s expansion plans to develop further houses in the local area.

There are already three Rainbow Houses in Devon, two in Exeter and one in Torquay, each providing high quality, affordable and specially adapted accommodation for adults with learning disability. Rainbow Living has continued to see growth in demand for its services and the charity has decided to expand its services within the Exeter area with a fourth house.

Speaking of his appointment, Dave said: “Because of the impact Rainbow Living has, and the plans to grow so we can help more people, the charity is at a really interesting stage of development – the chance to get involved was a very exciting prospect. What Rainbow Living enables is life changing for the tenants and families involved, so being able to support that work is a real privilege.”

Clive echoed this sentiment: “Rainbow Living is able to make a tangible difference; the work the charity does is people centred, considering the whole family and not just the tenant. There are lots of challenges and exciting opportunities ahead.”

Rainbow Living’s Treasurer Ruth Airdrie, MBE, said: “We really are so pleased to welcome four new Directors to our Board at this exciting time. Dave, Clive, Tracey and Paul each bring skills and experience that will benefit and enhance our work considerably, and we look forward to working with them as we continue our work to support local adults with learning and other disabilities through our accommodation projects.”
