Staff at Mercedes-Benz of Exeter joined the fight against heart disease by holding a Cake Sale for their customers on Valentine’s day. The local community came out in force to show their support of the nation’s heart charity with the team raising over £120 throughout the day.

Lauren Marsh, Front of House Supervisor, said “We are so thankful to everyone who donated and took part in raising funds. I am very proud and impressed with how much we’ve raised and we all hope it will make a real difference”.

Joy Petley BHF Fundraising Manager for Devon and Cornwall added: “Our local companies play a crucial role in helping us win the fight against heart disease. Not only do they raise vital funds for our lifesaving research, but they also help raise awareness of the devastating impact heart disease can have on our communities and how we can protect against it”.

“I am so excited that Mercedes-Benz of Exeter has chosen to help beat cardiovascular disease this Valentine’s Day. The dedicated support shown from the team is truly heartwarming”.

Sadly, over 270 people die from cardiovascular disease in Exeter alone each year. The British Heart Foundation is funding £1million of research in Exeter, aiming to discover vital treatments to change the fight against heart disease.

One such research project taking place in Exeter is testing the idea that, by treating the kidneys, we could predict, slow down and even prevent the development of heart disease.
