Charity run returns to City Centre

After three years of running a course along the city's canal path, the Michelmores annual charity run is returning to the city centre on Tuesday 11 June 2013, and runners of all abilities and experience are now invited to enter.

The new route sees the celebrated 5km event start once again on Cathedral Green before passing the 1km mark in Princesshay and then taking the runners past the Guildhall Shopping Centre, back to the Northernhay memorial statue and on to Rougemont Gardens for a finish at Exeter Castle.

Race organizer Sacha Pickering said: “We are all delighted to return to a city centre course. The first 10 years of the race were run around the city but we encountered some traffic issues so took the run down to Exeter Quay.

“We have now resolved these issues and agreed a course with the authorities which will give the people of Exeter a much better opportunity of seeing the race at close quarters and even coming along to Exeter Castle to witness the exciting finish.”

The Michelmores Charity Run has now raised over £250,000 for local charities.  This year’s beneficiary will be South West based adoption charity, Families for Children.
