Lycra-clad cycling enthusiasts are being called to take part in the second Kitsons Devon Classic Bike Ride which is supporting local charity Hospiscare in 2014.
The popular bike ride, taking place on Sunday July 20, features a challenge for all cycling abilities across a choice of three routes, adding a different element to the event and allowing individuals to pick between 55, 85 and 100 mile routes.
Each course starts and finishes at David Lloyd Club, Exeter, and will take the cyclists out into the beautiful Devon countryside.
Another added element to this year’s event comes at the end of the ride where cyclists will choose whether to undertake the new ‘Tough Guy’ route back to the event arena or stick with the regular, easier route.
Hospiscare Events Fundraiser Celia Wilkinson said: “We’re very excited to be working with the Kitsons Devon Classic Bike Ride. This is our first venture into the cycling sportive world and it’s a great opportunity to work with a local event.
“We’re looking for individuals of all cycling abilities to challenge themselves, pick a route and support Hospiscare.
“There is plenty of time to get on your bike and start training; with the weather starting to pick up and the days getting a little longer, it’s a great time to start thinking about summer events.”
Event Organiser Barry Clayton said: "We are delighted to announce that the Devon Classic Bike Ride will be supporting Hospiscare.
“We are so happy to support this charity and give something back to our local community, just like the hospice does day after day.
“‘Hospiscare goes the extra mile’ was quoted by a patient, so join us on July 20 and go the extra mile to support your local community through Hospiscare"
Riders will be provided with food and drink during the event and there will also be support available for the cyclists and their respective bikes.
A special event village will be held at David Lloyd Club, Exeter; the perfect place for families to wait to congratulate their loved ones on completion of the ride, and also the ideal area to collect well deserved medals.
