Paignton Zoo has turned to a local company to help with a weighty matter.

Keepers wanted to install a set of scales in the den of their Western lowland gorillas. But, as Senior Head Keeper of Mammals Matthew Webb explained, not just any scales would do:

“You can’t use normal scales with gorillas, because they will play with them - which usually means they will break them! We needed to find some really heavy duty bench scales that we could secure very well!”

Everys Solicitors hosted a sponsors’ day at Exmouth RFC for the first team’s recent match against Dings Crusaders.

Staff from Everys’ Exmouth office attended the game along with guests from other local businesses.

Everys signed up to sponsor the Cockles at the start of the 2013/14 season. The Everys logo can be seen on the sleeve of the players’ shirts.

Exmouth partner John Hawkins was presented with a plaque and signed rugby ball as a token of thanks from the club.

Small businesses in Exeter are set to receive tax breaks of up to £1,000 on their future bills.

The discount which comes from business rates payments is only available to business with a rateable value of £50,000 or below and will be automatically discounted by the Council.

Moreover the discount is only available to certain types of business with pay day lenders, betting shops among those businesses prohibited from the discount.

Aside from those businesses specifically excluded from the discount the City Council will be able to decide which businesses are eligible...

Exeter’s newest live music venue Charlie’s Live Lounge has undergone some changes since its opening in November 2013. Under the stewardship of new General Manager, Julian Eslick Charlies is now open to over 18’s after 7pm allowing a greater range of ages to enjoy the live music and great atmosphere. There is also a more relaxed dress code and no coat charge for guests.

Lease negotiation saves Exeter-based Toy manufacturer thousands of pounds

Exeter-based commercial property advisers Space recently successfully negotiated a lease renewal for Japanese toy manufacturer, Tomy, saving the company tens of thousands of pounds.
