Matthew Bird of Devon Renewables Ltd in Exeter has been shortlisted for Best Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Installer (Best HVAC Installer) at the Heating Installer Awards 2026.

Independent brewery takes special delivery

Some of the team at Exeter Brewery were on hand to take delivery of an exciting new piece of kit.

The 20 brewery barrel fermenter with a 4,000 litre capacity is made in stainless steel, and has been manufactured in the UK to a bespoke design.

Now taking the total of fermenters at their site on Cowley Bridge Road, Exeter to five, it will be used to brew their full range of seven beers including award-winning ales.

Exeter businesses at capacity

The latest Exeter Business Survey, carried out by Exeter Chamber of Commerce, shows the highest number of Exeter businesses working at capacity levels since March 2008.

In addition to this, members have also reported the highest level of business confidence since September 2007.

Zoo first for eco product

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park has become the first customer in the world for a brand new green product.

The compacted foam logs are made by a Plymouth company. Manuplas, based in Estover, manufactures a range of buoyancy and protection products for the marine, offshore, renewable energy, composites and leisure markets.

Leading lawyers to mentor young entrepreneurs

Staff from one of Devon and Cornwall’s leading legal firms will be volunteering as mentors to young people starting out in business, through the New Enterprise Allowance scheme.

The mentors include lawyers from a variety of disciplines including property, dispute resolution, renewable energy and employment law, as well as specialists in marketing, finance and IT from Stephens Scown LLP. The mentors are drawn from the firm’s three offices in Exeter, St Austell and Truro.

A team of people made up of members from businesses around Crediton have completed the Three Peaks Challenge, and attempt to walk the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
