European sales boost for Devon logistics company

Kay Transport Ltd, based in Cullompton in Devon, has contributed to the phenomenal growth in pan-European volumes announced by Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, and of which Kay Transport Ltd is a member.

Exeter-based Pennon Group has expanded after acquiring Bournemouth Water for £100.3million.

Pennon Group Plc owns South West Water Limited and Taunton-based Viridor Limited. The Group has assets of around £5 billion and a workforce of around 4,500 people. Bournemouth Water is a water-only company serving a population of 437,600 people in an area of more than 1,000 square kilometres, including Bournemouth, Wimborne, the New Forest, Lymington and the Fawley oil refinery on the Solent. Crowdcube, the investment crowdfunding platform, is set for its best year ever following a stellar first quarter, which saw 36 businesses raise £17.5 million and £24 million invested through the site.

SMEs lacking basic digital skills

According to the latest UK Business Digital Index, over a million (23%) small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) still lack basic digital skills. The Index from Lloyds Bank, in association with Accenture and digital skills charity Go ON UK, measures and tracks the level of digital ability among SMEs and charities.
