Young Exeter executives qualify as accountants

Two young executives from Exeter firm Thomas Westcott Accountants, have qualified as a chartered certified accountants. Philip Cooke, 23 and Laura Kitchin, 22, who have both been with the firm since they were teenagers, have completed their studies and are now Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accredited.

 

Philip, who works in the Exeter office, has been working with Thomas Westcott since he was 18-years-old and said he was delighted to have completed his studies. He said he enjoys he enjoys his role with the firm; meeting new clients and working around the region from Bristol to Plymouth. He said: "I was recently in two farming businesses and it was fascinating to see how they differed in operations, despite being in the same business."

 

Laura, who lives and works in Honiton, started her career with Thomas Westcott at only 16-years-old, said she has dedicated herself to passing her exams within a space of only three years. She said: "Accountancy can be satisfying as there is always a solution to each problem that arises, following some investigation. Being an accountant can sometimes feel like being a detective.”

 

Now she has completed her studies she said she plans to join the gym and see more of her friends.
