Everything about the way we work has changed immeasurably in the last couple of years. Working through a pandemic has shown many businesses what they need to do to succeed – and the changes that need to be made.

One of the biggest shifts that has occurred is the move to a more hybrid approach to work, with many companies looking to rent serviced office spaces to help with the needs of their business and their staff.

Here’s what’s in store for the future of serviced offices post pandemic.

The pandemic and serviced office spaces

In 2019, serviced office spaces were increasing in popularity, and more and more people were searching for their ideal serviced office online, through services such as Devono. In fact, that year showed one of the strongest starts to office leasing, with just over two million square feet of space being let in the first quarter alone. Only 2022 has surpassed this.

Back in 2019, the main reason for selecting offices like this was the range of spaces offered and the fact that many of these places utilised smart technology and sustainable business practices. Flexibility was another key motivator. If one space wasn’t suitable it was easy to find somewhere else and move on, quite quickly.

Better standards of sanitation and hygiene

Post pandemic owners of serviced offices are working hard to make sure that the hygiene standards are high and that all spaces are kept sanitary and safe. They’re also using more sustainable and eco-friendly cleaning options to keep spaces as green as possible.

They want to encourage workers to put their trust in them and know they’re doing everything they can to mitigate any health concerns when heading back to the office for the first time in a while.

Serviced offices give real flexibility

Many businesses have now realised that having a central office to which workers need to commute every day wasn’t always practical. Staff had got used to either working from home full-time, or using a hybrid model of work which required some time in the office and the rest elsewhere.

Leasing a serviced office space allows businesses the opportunity to have a comfortable, clean environment to work in – one that often feels more collaborative in nature. Staff can come in on designated days and then work from home the rest of the time. Options like hot-desking are possible and there are often better facilities such as clean, modern kitchen spaces, even chill-out rooms.

There is real flexibility offered too. If one space doesn’t quite suit the needs of a business they can move with relative ease – given that contracts are often on a rolling month-to-month basis. It’s therefore easy to find another office without too much hassle.

Conclusion

The future of serviced offices post pandemic is looking particularly rosy. Many workers feel they’re now getting a better work/life balance and that their working environments make it more conducive to increased productivity.  Lovely places to work – that offer a degree of home comfort are becoming the norm.
