A SOUTH Devon care provider is this month (May 2020) looking for more live-in care workers to help shield some of the county’s elderly and most vulnerable residents during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Guardian Homecare, operating in Exeter and surrounding areas, has live-in vacancies and hopes those with the right skills will come forward to protect its service users from the virus.

Manager, Catherine Porter says: “We can provide 24-hour live-in support to anyone who may require it, so we are keen to employ and train new live-in care workers as part of our current recruitment drive and alongside our need to boost our team members in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The role of a live-in care worker includes providing support to service users, who are some of the county’s most vulnerable and require shielding at this moment in time, and assisting them with personal care, washing, dressing, medication administration and domestic work.

“They will be living in the service user’s home and helping them maintain their independence, while also keeping them safely at home. We are looking for people who are committed, reliable and caring.”

Guardian Homecare delivers personalised home care supporting people wishing to stay living safely and comfortably in their own homes in south Devon.

It is looking for honest and kind-hearted individuals to help add to its teams.

Catherine adds: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been recently made redundant or laid off, or is self-employed, but may not be able to work, as a result of social distancing measures. This is a great opportunity for individuals who need to work now to earn money, as they have lost their livelihoods due to COVID-19 restrictions, or who are after a complete career change that will offer them better job security in the future.

“We provide new recruits a five-day training induction and a 12-week onboarding programme working towards a care certificate. We also offer flexible working hours, both full and part-time, as well as competitive wages, generous holiday allocation and a refer a friend scheme.

“We’re committed to up-skilling our workforce and offer flexible and supported training. We are also working hard to dispel the myth that care is not a valued career. Being a carer is a highly skilled, professional vocational occupation that is essential to the fabric of our society. We’re searching for people who are looking for a long-term career as care is a rapidly expanding sector and there is work in the area for many years to come.”

“It is a great opportunity for people to achieve a recognised qualification and they’ll also be able to have access to exclusive discounts online and in-store from retailers including Tesco, Primark and Argos as well as covering holidays and electrical goods.

“We give all our staff full paid additional training when they start and pay for their DBS and shadowing too. A live-in carer also has free accommodation provided during their stay with the service user.

“We offer career advancement opportunities that mean we have a highly trained, motivated and appreciated team. We have jobs available in the area now with immediate start, no experience necessary just a willingness to care and to learn.”

Guardian Homecare’s support is not just for elderly service users, it also offers home care for adults of various abilities. Its team puts people first by helping individuals live independently and providing peace of mind for families. Its service is also completely personalised and ranges from daily visits to respite and overnight care.

Catherine explains: “We’re offering those looking for a career in care, flexible contracts, as well as free, full training with the opportunity to achieve industry-wide qualifications.”

Guardian Homecare already has more than 140 trained staff across south Devon and operates a professional team of skilled committed individuals providing high quality care to people in their own homes.

It provides support to those wishing to remain in their own homes and cared for in a way that meets their health needs by offering a range of home care options including live-in care.

“Our work and the care we provide removes some of the stresses and strains that the NHS has to deal with and we’re also helping shield the most vulnerable in society by keeping them safely in their own homes.

“Anyone interested should get in touch today. Our office team will be able to have a chat with you and they will be able to set up interviews via Skype or Facetime to talk you through everything, so you don’t need to make any non-essential trips away from home. The Government has also taken steps to ensure a quicker turnaround on DBS checks, so we can get people into work more quickly than before.”
