Free budget seminars taking place across Devon and Somerset
As Chancellor Philip Hammond prepares to make his first full spring Budget statement Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants is to hold a series of seminars to help business owners make sense of any new announcements.
With the Government poised to trigger Article 50 at the end of March, signifying the UK's separation from Europe, this Budget announcement earlier in the month could be hugely significant.
"Whilst there's every chance this could be a fairly low-key Budget, given everything else happening, you can never rule out a bombshell announcement, especially as this will be the Chancellor's first and last Spring Budget, with the move to an Autumn Budget starting this year," said Mark Tibbert, partner and tax expert at Thomas Westcott.
"For instance, we know that there are concerns over low tax receipts which is hampering central government growth plans, and so we are braced to hear what could be announced as new measures to increase tax revenue."
Those attending the seminars will hear a summary of what's in the budget before learning of the potential impacts it might have on individuals and businesses in the South West.
Mark Tibbert added: "Ahead of our seminars we will be poring over the fine detail of the Chancellor's speech, delving beneath the headline-grabbing announcements and uncovering the real issues affecting business owners and individuals."
