BoxWay Packaging Group Limited, the innovative, customer-focussed, design-led, flexographic and digital print corrugated packaging business, with a factory in Exeter, is celebrating two-fold; the culmination of its first two years of continuous investment in the business as well as the second anniversary since its launch.

Innovative BoxWay Packaging Group Limited has reached the final stage of its two-year investment programme, during which the business has invested almost £3m in developing its two operations at North Sowton Industrial Estate in Exeter, and in Peterlee, County Durham. This significant sum has been spent on all aspects of the business, including investment in infrastructure and IT systems, people and machinery and design and finance software. BoxWay is in an enviable position to meet the ever evolving and sophisticated requirements of its SME and blue-chip customers across the UK who seek tailor-made, high quality corrugated packaging where small runs as well as larger volumes of production can equally be catered for.

The recruitment of knowledgeable, talented and committed local staff, along with their training and ongoing personal development, has played an essential role in the development of the business which now employs 28 staff at its Sowton site. This, together with significant investment in the purchase of sophisticated new machinery and the upgrading of existing equipment ensures BoxWay is widening its capability and increasing its capacity for the business to deliver best-in-class printed and plain corrugated packaging for its local, regional and national customers.

Simultaneously, BoxWay is celebrating its second birthday and its establishment as a unique national and independent player in the design-led, bespoke flexo and digital arena targeting customers with a specific desire for distinctive, quality corrugated products where bespoke run sizes are important.

Andrew Woollard, CEO, BoxWay Packaging Group, comments on the success of the last two years: “I am delighted to announce the first two phases of our bold investment plan for our sites in Exeter and Peterlee have now been very successfully completed. Since our launch in 2021 the exciting investment phases, which have focussed on infrastructure and machinery simultaneously, have enabled us to significantly expand our customer offering and the measures implemented across both the Peterlee and Exeter sites have boosted our capacity to deliver a wider portfolio of high-quality, design-led products and services for businesses across the UK that wish to grow or to evolve into new markets. We have a fantastic, committed and experienced workforce with a ‘can do’ approach who are at the heart of what we do and everything we achieve. As we celebrate with our staff this month our second anniversary, we are looking forward to an exciting future building on the successes we have already achieved.”

Andrew continues: We have invested heavily in new machinery at both sites. In Exeter we have added a water-based ink Hanway Digital Printer, an Eterna Flat Bed Die Cutter, a SuperNova Multi Point Gluer upgrade and a Large Format Kongsberg Digital Cutting Table, while Peterlee is benefitting from adding a Kolbus Specialty Gluer, a Weipong 5 Colour Rotary Die Cutter, an Eterna Flat Bed Die Cutter, a Midas Gluer and a Kongsberg Sample Cutting Table to complement our existing portfolio. A finance hub has also been established in Telford to centralise and develop our systems and infrastructure. Although we have reached the final stage of our initial two-year investment programme, with the last machine of this phase having been delivered only this week, we are always seeking sound investment opportunities through which we can further grow BoxWay Packaging, profitably. When the right business opportunities arise, we are certainly willing to invest, and the funding is in place to facilitate more investment, if and when required.

These important additions to the BoxWay Packaging Group’s sites are proving invaluable as the business furthers its ambitions to continue to grow significantly in dynamic new markets and to recruit, develop and retain staff who continue to be at the core of its development.
