The Business Titans greatest weapon and it’s in Devon.

Hidden just off the M5 at Junction 28 is the greatest weapon in any business’ armoury. Where once stood an old truck factory now stands a unique and quirky home to Business Titans.  This building is bursting with character and quirky twists offering a refreshing alternative to the dull, humdrum, white box business atmospheres I frequently stumble upon. The Nook, which takes its name from the plethora of weird and wonderful nooks available within the building to work from is so much more than a place to work or meet people. The atmosphere is difficult to describe, there is a sense of fun, it is relaxed and charming but at the same time retains its professionalism. There is a 5 star rated cafe and a 24 hour gym on site and being half way between Exeter and Taunton provides a convenient meeting spot for many organisations.

The idea behind the Nook was to cut out as much of the red tape as possible, allowing businesses to focus on what they do best. This started simply by offering a ‘just add work’ approach, providing workspaces and coworking where businesses only needed to turn up- everything else was taken care of. This was the starting point that led to the 21 carefully selected businesses that now lovingly refer to themselves as Nooksters. The Nook is very proud of the epic support network it has, with some members stating that they don’t think their business would be where it is today without the one-to-one time available to them.

We spoke to director James Trebble about why this was, and this is what he said ‘running any kind of business, no matter how big or small can be a stressful and at times an isolating experience. We all have our sticking points or areas where we feel uncomfortable. Most people don’t want mentoring or help. They just want to run ideas, have a chat with a friend or pick a like minded brain and it helps that I have many years experience in this area.’

This resonated with me and I think this probably goes some way to explaining the rise in co-working over the years. People felt alone and sharing an environment with others made them more productive, but this is more than just an office and co-working space. This is a network of varied, credible and talented people who seem to have a great deal of fun at work and still maintain their drive and productivity. It’s a family. It’s support, and it makes you feel good about getting up in the morning and not only taking on the day but winning. I could go on, there are far more services and features that I haven’t mentioned but I truly recommend that if you do one thing this year, it’s pop in for a coffee, get inspired, meet the team. You won’t regret it.
