Browne Jacobson elects Caroline Green as Senior Partner

Exeter law firm Browne Jacobson today announces that Caroline Green has been elected the firm’s new Senior Partner with effect from 1 May 2019 for a three year term.  

Caroline, who is one of the firm’s longest serving partners and jointly heads up the firm’s Retail Sector Group, will be its first female senior partner.

An outstanding commercial contracts and real estate lawyer with a ‘fantastic reputation in retail’ (Chambers and Partners), Caroline joined Browne Jacobson in 1984 and has been the architect of its nationally recognised retail and logistics team. Her clients include some of the world’s leading premium fashion retail brands as well as many of the UK’s leading freight and logistics operators. In 1989 she was appointed the firm’s first female partner and in 2018 she was elected joint head of the firm’s flagship London office. She is also a Non-Executive Board Director of Swim England. 

Caroline succeeds Derek Bambury who has held the position since 2013. As head of business and professional riskDerek will continue in his client facing role with many of the firm’s major clients including Hiscox and in his role advising the SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L Madoff Investment Securities LLC and Bernard Madoff on matters in the UK, the Commonwealth and Europe.

Under Derek’s tenure as Senior Partner Browne Jacobson has delivered impressive financial growth of 62%. He has also been instrumental in overseeing the re-location of the firm’s London office to Bevis Marks and its Manchester operation to No.1 Spinningfields in the heart of the city’s business district.
