School teams taking part in Exeter’s Young Enterprise are heading to Princesshay on Saturday 12th December from 10am – 4 pm to showcase their entrepreneurial skills and Christmas wares at the Young Enterprise Trade Show.

Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills.

Six schools from Exeter, East, Mid and South Devon will each set up and operate their stalls in Princesshay, under the Debenhams colonnade, to compete for the accolade of Most Successful Business. The teams will be under the watchful eye of the judges; Wayne Pearce, Princesshay centre director and Paul Banks, CEO and founder of Fresha Café.

Marian Weston, Young Enterprise Manager for Exeter, East and Mid Devon said: “The students are really excited to be exhibiting in Princesshay. The footfall in the centre provides a fantastic opportunity for each of the schools to present their businesses and products to a wide audience. Events like these help our students gain a practical understanding of teamwork dynamics and a greater understanding of the complete enterprise journey.”

Two of the six schools taking part in the Trade Show are; Exeter School and Maynard School. Exeter School have designed and created a cook book to market and sell on their stall. Maynard School will be showcasing and selling sweet treat gift jars, hot chocolate sticks, marshmallows and syrups.

Torquay Girls Grammar School and Blundells of Tiverton will be selling Christmas decorations each with their own unique twist. Trinity School, Teignmouth will be focusing on upcycling with their business Rework including bags made from jeans and clocks made from bicycle wheels.

Wayne Pearce, centre director of Princesshay said: “Myself and the team at Princesshay are looking forward to welcoming the Young Enterprise schools to the centre and we can’t wait to see the products and businesses that will be on offer. It’s been great to be part of the YE process so far and seeing the fantastic work the charity does for the young people of Exeter and surrounding areas.”

Visitors to the centre will be able to buy unique handmade products from the local pupils and learn more about the Young Enterprise Programme.
