The WESC Foundation’s decorated tree has been named winner of Princesshay’s Charity Christmas Tree Festival, featuring thirty-five trees decorated by charities from across Devon.

The popular annual Christmas Tree Festival, located on Roman Walk, Princesshay, was officially opened on Friday 17 November by the Lord Mayor of Exeter and will be in situ until Christmas Eve. Runners up were FORCE and the Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.

The Christmas trees were judged by Ann Hunter, Exeter Business Improvement Manager, who said “The Charity Christmas Tree Festival is a fantastic event orchestrated by Princesshay, which acknowledges the incredible work of all its participating charities.

"I was really pleased to have been invited to be part of such a deserving festive celebration. It was really tough deciding on a winning tree, as each one was carefully and uniquely decorated, but I felt the tree decorated by WESC had the edge in the end! The trees are a real must-see display for anyone visiting Exeter this Christmas.”

The WESC Foundation, based in Exeter, is a specialist day and residential centre offering a unique experience for young people and adults with visual impairment including complex needs. The charity will be awarded a £50 Princesshay Gift Card, with FORCE and the Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education each receiving Princesshay Gift Cards to the value of £25.

Andy Littlejohns, Operations Manager at Princesshay said “We’re so happy to be running the festival for another year and continuing to show our support for such hard-working organisations. The trees are a magnificent display, and I would like to encourage anyone who visits the city centre to come and view the trees on Roman Walk in all their festive glory”.

The Christmas Tree Festival is one of the many seasonal celebrations taking place in Princesshay. For further details about events and late night shopping evenings in Princesshay this Christmas, visit www.princesshay.co.uk/christmas
