RGB Building Supplies is delighted to announce that Exeter Foyer is the latest beneficiary of their Well Built Community Fund.  The centre will be receiving £1,000 worth of building materials from RGB’s Exeter branch enabling them to create a fitness room to help improve the health and wellbeing of the young people they support.

Exeter Foyer is a supported housing project providing safe, secure and affordable accommodation for young and vulnerable homeless people between the ages of 16 and 21. It is designed as a preventative service to long term homelessness giving young people the chance to develop key life skills by way of training, education and employment opportunities

After the building that housed a media suite, a training room and a kitchen was sold by previous owners, Exeter Foyer has been working hard to develop their current building to enable them to provide the important additional services that were lost in the sale.

Debbie Brimacombe, Project Manager at Exeter Foyer, commented: “Our three main areas of focus are around healthy eating, physical activity and mental wellbeing.  We have already created a training kitchen and small IT suite in our residents’ lounge and the £1,000 Well Built Community Fund grant will enable us to purchase the materials to turn a summer house into a small gym in our courtyard.  Residents will use the gym to help with their fitness and overall health and we would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies.”

Paul West, Branch Manager at RGB Exeter, added: “Research proves that exercising releases chemicals in the brain to make people feel good, which in turn helps boost self-esteem and happiness.  We’re therefore delighted to help Exeter Foyer create their new gym and support the important work they do with young people in the local area.”
