Pedestrian in critical condition after A30 lorry crash

Police and ambulance were called at 3.05am today [4 August] following a serious collision on the westbound carriageway of the A30 at Daisy Mount Cross, Ottery St Mary.

The collision involved a male pedestrian and an HGV.

The 19-year-old man, from Hampshire, was walking along the carriageway with three other men when he was in collision with the HGV.

He sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The other three men were not injured.

One lane of the A30 westbound at Daisy Mount Cross was closed until around 10am while officers carry out an examination of the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone with any information is asked to contact 101@dc.police.uk quoting police log number 81 for the 4th of August.
