Overnight road closures are planned for Bridge Road in Exeter over four consecutive evenings later this month.

The road will be closed each night from Monday 22 May to Thursday 25 May, closing at 8:30pm and re-opening by 5:30am the following morning on each occasion.

The final sections of steelwork for the Countess Wear pedestrian and cycle bridge will be installed during these overnight closures. It is essential for the road to be closed to enable a large crane to set up safely on the highway for lifting operations to install three more cantilever beams and four separate sections of bridge deck.

The diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379. Details of the diversion route are available here.

Details of changes to Stagecoach bus services will be available at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regional-service-updates/south-west/greate...

Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use Bridge Road during the closures using the temporary footpath/cyclepath marked. They may be marshalled through the works and are therefore urged to take care and follow instructions from the site staff.
