Leading local advice charities, Citizens Advice Exeter and Citizens Advice Torbay, are delighted to announce the launch of a new and exciting partnership.

Both charities will now operate under a shared leadership team headed up by Steve Barriball, current Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Exeter.

Bev Foster, Chair of Citizens Advice Torbay said: “The last year has been very difficult for Citizens Advice Torbay, with significant reductions to our funding.

“We are very optimistic that the partnership we have formed with Exeter will help us share best practice and increase efficiencies while at the same time improving the service we offer to all our clients.

“We feel that working collaboratively is the best way to sustain and develop, and we are excited and hopeful for the future working relationship with Exeter.”

Dennis Mardon, Chair of Citizens Advice Exeter said: "It was clear from our first joint discussion with Trustees from Torbay that working in partnership would work for both organisations.

“The partnership will provide benefits to us both whilst we both retain our independence as local charities.

“As funding for our essential services get more difficult I am sure that many more charities will be looking to adopt a similar model so that we can continue to provide the support which our clients so badly need."

Steve Barriball, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Exeter and Citizens Advice Torbay said: “I am delighted to be asked to lead both local charities. I am excited by the opportunities that this development can bring for both of our charities.

“There are clearly similarities between the work we do, but also important differences.

“It is essential that, working together with both teams, we are able to maximise the benefits of this joint approach, whilst also maintaining our local identity.

“The most important part of the role is ensuring that our clients get the best possible service we are able to provide.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the fantastic work that our volunteers and paid staff do each and every day."
