Michael Spiers, the South West’s leading independent jewellery and watch retailer, opened the doors to its prestigious new showroom in Exeter today (Thursday 18 June), becoming the latest luxury retailer to join the prominent Cathedral Green shopping community.

The family-run company, which has four stores located across the South West, moved from its previous Exeter premises on Castle Street to 22 Cathedral Yard, which is much larger and located right in the heart of the city’s shopping hotspot.

Already Exeter’s sole stockist of the most prestigious brands in the world, including Rolex, Tudor and MontBlanc, Michael Spiers has been enabled to expand its range in the new Exeter showroom by adding TAG Heuer, Gucci, Tissot and Georg Jensen. The bigger premises also boast a larger collection of gemstone and diamond jewellery than the previous store.

Company Director, Adam Spiers, said: “The new showroom on Cathedral Yard is far more spacious, allowing us to bring in more globally recognised brands and expand our Rolex area. We are now offering more pieces of jewellery and timepieces in a far more luxurious environment for our customers. We have also taken on two extra members of staff to boost the sales team.

“It’s exhilarating to embark on a new adventure, especially when it is such a positive move for the company. Exeter is Devon’s county town and it is fantastic that we are becoming more established in the city and region.”

Having opened its first showroom in Exeter in July 1999, the independent jewellers has developed a strong relationship with the city’s shoppers, but the success of its Castle Street store over the past few years meant the company had to look for larger more prominent premises.

Adam continues: “We were based on Castle Street for over 15 years and while it was sad to close its doors for the final time last week; it’s thanks to that store that we are now established enough in Exeter to be able to push forward.

“In the previous store we were able to show glimpses of what we can do, whereas in the new showroom we will be able to showcase a lot more. It’s not just good for us, it’s great for the city too.”

The new store, which has had a complete refurbishment in the last three months, is now open to the public.
