Sowton-based EMC Advisory Services is set to create 100 new jobs in the next year after an £8 million management buyout.

Management team James Scarth and Richard Hopwood plan to introduce new services to expand the claims management company.

EMC Advisory Services already employs 220 people at Sowton in Exeter, Torquay, Paignton and Taunton. Now, new jobs will be created across the four offices in roles including telephony, sales and service, specialist claims, legal roles and support including IT.

James Scarth, Joint Managing Director, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to expand the business with new services and to attract new customers across the UK. It is about taking this company to the next level, and making it a great place to work.”

He added: “We are looking for talented people to join a modern and progressive company, and we have already begun advertising for the new positions. We have a relaxed work environment but we are focused on achieving results. Our great strengths are our sales team and the processes we have to help people claim recompense for mis-sold pensions and other financial policies.”

The company employs 185 people in Devon - 80 at its head office in Sowton, Exeter, 60 in Paignton and 45 in Torquay – and another 35 in Taunton, Devon.

EMC Advisory Services is one of the leading claims management companies in the UK, providing services to consumers to make claims for compensation because of malpractice by financial institutions.

Since its formation in 2003, it has managed claims for more than 740,000 people who have received a total of £518 million in compensation.

The company covers claims relating to financial products including savings and investments, pensions, payment protection insurance, mortgage endowments, packaged bank accounts. It is one of the five founding members of the Professional Financial Claims Association set up in 2013 to promote professional and ethical standards in the sector.
