Charity begins at home – the Monopoly home of houses and hotels.

Exeter Monopoly chiefs say they were so “overwhelmed” with the public’s response to news that a city charity is being given the opportunity to ‘Pass GO’ that they have DOUBLED their offer.

The board is launched in Exeter on 14 October at 10am.

And the makers have revealed they have now reserved two prime sites for charities on the city’s new official board - the second charity announced today.

It was reported earlier in the summer that Age UK Exeter have made it onto the official board after a public vote. They get to appear on a Community Chest square. Now it is being revealed a second charity is appearing on the board too.

Monopoly bosses say the Exeter Deaf Academy ran the “most imaginative campaign” to secure a place on the board, including eye-catching You Tube videos.

Age UK Exeter appear on a Community Chest square, with Exeter Deaf Academy on a Chance site. Their CEO and Principal Jonathan Farnhill says: “As one of the city’s oldest charities, we are thrilled that the Deaf Academy will feature on Exeter’s new MONOPOLY board. It’s fantastic that the community got behind our campaign and we’re delighted to be included in this exciting chapter of Exeter’s history.”

Dan Taylor, Head of Custom Games at Winning Moves UK, who are making the board under official license from Monopoly owners Hasbro, adds: “We were nicely overwhelmed with great responses. Thank you to everyone who sent in nominations. Congratulations to both the charities.”

On Wednesday 14 October the Monopoly: Exeter Edition will be launched in spectacular style publicly, as a gigantic replica of the board is unveiled in the city centre at exactly the same time as the game hits shop and online shelves. The public ceremony will take place on the medieval cobbled streets of Stepcote Hill at The Hall at 10am.

It’s a public launch. So Exeter folk can give their verdict on the board instantly! A giant five foot by five foot replica is being unfurled.

The brand new Monopoly: Exeter Edition board will be available at all good toy and book stores from 14th October (2015), including at Waterstones, WH Smith and The Works. The board will also be very widely available online, including www.amazon.co.uk

Twenty-two Exeter property landmarks will feature on the new board which is out just in time for Christmas.
