Nearly 1,000 people took part in the 16th Michelmores Charity Run on 11 June, raising over £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support – and beating last year's fundraising total.

The fastest male was Owen Walpole who ran the distance in just 16 minutes and 6 seconds − followed in second place by James Denne who finished in 16 minutes and 15 seconds. Third place went to Michelmores' Nathaniel Lane who covered the course in 16 minutes and 55 seconds.

The fastest woman was Cathy Newman with a time of 18 minutes and 32 seconds, followed by Emma Sharples who ran the distance in 18 minutes and 36 seconds, and Nicky Savill, with a time of 19 minutes and 45 seconds.
Haldon Trail Runners were named the 'Fastest Running Team', with Landmark Information Group winning 'Fastest Corporate Team'. The winner of 'Largest Corporate Team' went to Francis Clark, with an impressive 37 runners.

The charity race was started by fastest man to circumnavigate the globe solo and unsupported, Kevin Carr. Taking care of the warm-up was Carl Rimmer and Haydn Thomas of the Exeter Chiefs, supported by Big Chief.

Following the race, runners and supporters went on to enjoy a BBQ and music at Exeter Castle.

Will Michelmore, Senior Partner at Michelmores, said 'Well done to all those that took part in this great event, it was brilliant to see so many people out there running, and raising such an impressive amount for Macmillan Cancer Support.

"In particular, many congratulations to Owen Walpole for taking home this year's trophy".
