Helmores cover Coast to Coast for charity
As part of their fundraising challenge for Children’s Hospice South West, Helmores Estate Agents are organising a cycling, walking and running journey from Ilfracombe to Exmouth.
Following the Tarka Trail, roads and the Exe Estuary cycle route members of the Helmores team, supported and sponsored by local businesses and the public, will be completing the 93 mile route in relays on Tuesday the 14th June. In total they hope to cover over 350 miles between them and raise plenty of money for a worthy cause.
The adventure is part of the firm’s commitment to the Children's Hospice South West £50 Challenge; using business skills and innovation to generate as much money as possible for the charity from a £50 start-up investment and growing it over three months.
A JustGiving page has been set up for donations and of course sponsorship is being raised by all of the individuals taking part. Many businesses including a fantastic and very kind donation by Mayflower Bathrooms, Wellington, have sponsored the team and all of the participants are determined to do their sponsors proud. Isabel Brice of Mayflower Bathrooms were keen to support this challenge “Mayflower Bathrooms are delighted to be donating to the Helmores Coast to Coast 2016 charity raising money for the Children’s hospice south west. The choice of charity made it a very easy decision to donate and we wish everyone taking part the very best of luck“
The route will start in Ilfracombe with road bikes heading south to the first part of the relay in Braunton where 4 cyclists will continue on the Tarka Trail, at the same time, 2 walkers will be leaving Fremington Quay before handing back to the road bikes at Meeth. After a cycle cross county taking in some beautiful countryside (and a slice of cake at the office in Crediton), the afternoon team will assemble on the Exe for more running, walking and cycling along the river and estuary to finish in Exmouth.
The Crediton based Helmores office will still be open during the day with staff taking it in turns to head off to complete their part of the challenge. Julie Bevan of Helmores, who was the driving force in entering the whole team into the £50 challenge is feeling proud – “I’m so pleased that the whole team have embraced this and we’ve had so many fundraisers from cake sales to this epic challenge and everyone has player their part. We’re grateful for all of the donations received so far but there’s still time to donate!”.
