Redrow Homes South West has supported a number of deserving causes in the Okehampton community – home to its new Romansfield development – through the creation of a fund for local organisations.

The housebuilder invited applicants to write to them and explain how they would benefit from the financial boost, and Redrow chose six organisations in the area to support with this particular fund.

In a cheque presentation ceremony held on Friday 25 October, Redrow celebrated the fantastic work of the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team, the Ockment Centre, the Okehampton Public Access Defibrillators (PADs), the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, the Okehampton Community and Recreation Association (OCRA) and the Okehampton District Community Transport Group.

Redrow is committed to building thriving communities in the areas in which it builds and the Okehampton community fund is part of the £314m in contributions that the housebuilder has committed to local communities in 2019.

Ian Blythe, OCRA sport and recreation manager, said: “OCRA is extremely pleased to receive funding from the Redrow Community Fund. The charity provides sporting and recreational opportunities for the residents of Okehampton, the Hamlets and surrounding areas with a focus on promoting both physical and mental wellbeing.

“The money will be used to support the curricular and non-curricular activities the charity provides in the primary schools that surround Okehampton and Tavistock as well its popular holiday activity program.”

Commenting on the event, Redrow’s area sales manager Kevin Bradford said: “We were thrilled to host representatives from the organisations that the Okehampton community fund is supporting at Friday’s cheque presentation. We place huge importance on being an active part of the communities local to our developments and it was fantastic to hear about the great work of these very deserving causes.

“We were grateful to the many organisations that got in touch regarding the community fund and we hope to work with as many as possible in the future.”

The Romansfield development has a range of charming two, three and four–bedroom homes available from £269,995.

Located just a mile from the town centre with easy access to a range of local amenities, and within easy reach of the beautiful Dartmoor National park, the development offers a perfect combination of country living and town amenities.

A brand-new school has also opened opposite the site, for children aged two to eleven, providing parents with the peace of mind that their little ones can walk safely and only a short distance to school.
