Devon veterans can now apply for life-changing mobility support

Devon veterans with mobility issues attributable to their service are now able to apply for support from the reinstated Veterans’ Mobility Fund (VMF).

Administration of the life-changing fund was awarded to Help for Heroes and Blesma by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs (OVA) and the Armed Forces Covenan t Trust Fund in September, 2023.

The VMF is a central fund, awarded by the OVA, to support veterans with physical disabilities through grants to enable them to access mobility equipment that improves their quality of life.

Scouts from Devon were honoured by international adventurer Chief Scout, Bear Grylls at Windsor Castle for gaining their Queen’s Scouts Awards on Sunday 26th April 2015.

Bear was joined by Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester GCVO, who is cousin of HM The Queen.

The Queen’s Scout Award is the highest honour in Scouting and is awarded for outstanding personal achievement.

At the Annual Town Council Meeting on Monday 27 April 2015, the RAF Community Plate was presented to A Flt, 22 Squadron Search and Rescue Team Chivenor by the Mayor of Barnstaple, Cllr Mrs Val Elkins.

A leading Devon law firm has reached the shortlist for the inaugural Legal Innovation Awards for its ground-breaking iPhone App for clients.

The finalists for the prestigious 2015 Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards have been announced.

The Awards, which are being held at Exeter venue Sandy Park on the 8th May, attracted a record number of nominations from sports varying from archery, athletics and Tae Kwon-do to sailing, skateboarding and table tennis.

Devon County Council was among six winners today at the annual national NHS flu fighter awards. The panel of judges, including the editor of Nursing Times magazine Jenni Middleton, said that the Devon team’s remarkable efforts will be promoted across the country to inspire similar work. Devon Hotels Association member, Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club was among the winners at this year’s South West wedding awards which took place at the Plymouth Guildhall on Thursday 12th March 2015.

For the sixth year in a row house builder Barratt has been awarded the maximum five stars in the industry’s annual customer satisfaction rating run by the Home Builders Federation (HBF).

The independent UK-wide survey, completed by over 30,000 UK homebuyers revealed that over 90 per cent of respondents buying a home from the company would recommend Barratt to a friend. This makes Barratt among the most highly rated housebuilders in Britain and the only major national housebuilder to achieve this standard for six years in a row.
