Exeter success at Energy Efficiency Awards

AN EXETER consultancy took a top prize at the South West Energy Efficiency Awards.

City Science, of Southernhay West, won the Energy Consultant or Consultancy of the Year award.

There were 13 categories up for grabs at the awards ceremony at Sandy Park Conference & Banqueting Centre, Exeter, on March 19th, attended by individuals and companies throughout the South West that are involved in the energy efficiency industry.

University scoops awards at successful Biennial Conference

Two awards crowned an excellent week as the University of Exeter hosted the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services' (AGCAS) biennial conference.

The University scooped the top award for Careers Service and Employer Partnership, in recognition for its work with Exeter City Football Club. Students have been working with the club on a range of projects, from analysing the psychology of fans and exploring how to introduce e-ticketing, to drainage improvements on the training pitch and conditioning programmes for the youth team.

Winners of the Exeter Contemporary Open accept prize money

The winners of the Exeter Contemporary Open were announced last week. At a private showing in the Exeter Phoenix, artists Rachel Busby, Julie Price and Oliver Tirre were awarded prizes for their work. An emotional Rachel Busby was presented the £1,000 top prize by Ben de Cruz, managing partner of Haines Watts chartered accountants, who funded the award.

Last call for nominations for Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards 2013

A call has gone out to all sports stars as Teignbridge District Council gears up for the annual Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards.

Nominations are now being sought for this year's awards gala on Friday 29 November at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish Warren.

Anyone can submit nominations for the sportspeople, volunteers and coaches they think deserve special recognition. Quick and convenient online nominations are being welcomed at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/sportspersonalityawards

Exeter Northcott Theatre make an impact to win environmental award

Exeter Northcott Theatre are celebrating as it was announced they have won a Green Impact Bronze Award for their efforts over the last year to improve the theatre’s environmental credentials.

Green Impact is a national scheme involving universities and colleges across the UK, as well as other organisations including the NHS and the police. The initiative is run by the NUS, encouraging and supporting staff to change their habits and adopt more environmentally sustainable working practices.

Exeter art wins international prize

Shortlisted from 105 entries, an artwork developed for an exhibition at RAMM has won an international linocut prize.

Exeter-based artist Volkhardt Müller adapted 12 little plastic TVs with musical clockwork to play finely carved miniature lino cuts on a perpetual roll for the Witness Box display in the exhibition, Any High Street.
