A FORMER University of Exeter student who set up her own hat-making business after her daughter struggled to find one for a wedding has been nominated for an award.

Tricia Hamilton, 60, has fought off competition to reach the semi-finals of the Venus Awards, which celebrates women in business.

The married-mum-of-two, who runs Tricia Designs, has been nominated for the Customer Service Award – which recognises individuals or businesses that go the extra mile.

She had retired from work as a teacher when she set up her business from her dining room table four years ago...

University of Exeter historian, Professor Richard Overy has been shortlisted for a new American military history prize for his book ‘The Bombing War: Europe, 1939-1945’.

Devon and Somerset Trading Standards Service has been shortlisted for two separate awards by the Local Government Chronicle (LGC), recognising its ongoing work to protect residents and businesses against doorstep crime gangs and rogue traders.

ASHFORDS LLP's multi-award-winning conveyancing team has gained further recognition for the quality of its service at the 2013 Equity Release Awards, which took place at Merchants Taylors’ Hall in London on Tuesday, 26 November.
