The Magdalen Chapter needs your vote

The Magdalen Chapter is delighted to announce it has been nominated as a finalist in The Food & Travel Magazine Readers Awards 2014.

For the second year running, the Exeter hotel is one of five finalists in the City Hotel of the Year category. The hotel is defending its title, having last year been crowned the winning establishment in this category.

The Magdalen Chapter is one of only two properties outside of London to be nominated in this prestigious category. Other properties nominated include The Berkeley in London, Charlotte Street Hotel in London, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and The Midland in Manchester.

The public is now being invited to vote for their favourite hotels with the winners being crowned at a star-studded awards ceremony in September.

Food & Travel Magazine readers are being asked to vote in categories, such as Restaurant of The Year, Bar of The Year, Tour Operator of The Year, Specialist Retailer of The Year, Airline of The Year, Cookery School of The Year and Destination of The Year.

Fiona Moores, General Manager of The Magdalen Chapter, said: “We feel so privileged to have been nominated for such a prestigious award, for the second year running. The support of our customers has really blown us away and we never dreamed that we’d be shortlisted again. Now we need the help of our wonderful guests and visitors to vote for us!”

The Magdalen Chapter has made a huge impact both regionally and nationally since it opened in 2012. The hotel, with its restaurant led by Head Chef Ben Bulger and luxury REN spa, has become a popular destination for both locals and visitors alike.

Formerly the West of England Eye Hospital, the 19th Century building has been sympathetically restored by award-winning architects, Feilden Clegg Bradley, to become an intimate and contemporary hotel. Original Edwardian features have been maintained and striking new extensions were added to create bright public spaces. Contemporary interiors, furniture and lighting, state-of-the-art technology, as well as modern art complete the transformation of this iconic property.

To celebrate the property’s original features and layout, every bedroom has a slightly different design. 21st century comforts come as standard, with free Wi-Fi as well as iPads and a complimentary minibar in every room.
