THE CUT PURSE RASCALS

The Cut Purse Rascals’ distinct sound is firmly rooted in the late 60s / early 70s. They deliver a luscious blend of four part vocal harmonies that work between acoustic rhythm guitar and vintage telecaster lead guitar. The Rascals take the Westcountry as their musical canvas and they pen narratives about the people and places this rich landscape has to offer. Their songs are laden with catchy hooks and choruses that have people singing along after just one listen. Strong musical influences include The Band and Crosby Stills & Nash, as well as contemporary artists such as The Dawes, Deep Dark Woods and Houndmouth.

Pat Orchard has toured extensively in Europe and played many of the major festivals and venues, including Montreux Jazz Festival, Reading, Glastonbury and Phoenix. He has toured with artists as diversified as Annie Lennox, Johnny Cash, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Richard Thompson, John Martyn, Bert Jansch, Robert Plant and Randy Crawford.

Born in Devon, England, he was, however, raised in Africa, principally Sierra Leone, Ghana and Zambia where he immersed himself in music the like of which most British artists have never experienced first hand. Over many years he travelled across America and Europe, honing his vibrant disregard for conformity into a style of guitar playing, all of his own. This singer and guitarist has to be heard live to truly appreciate the depth of his playing.
