Artist Mick Abbott is returning to A la Ronde after his hugely popular 2013 series of paintings based around the ceramics collection at the house. This year he will be taking the visitor on a very different journey to discover the boat building heritage of the local area.

Mick’s new exhibition, entitled ‘Degeneration and Regeneration’, is a poignant record of the area’s wooden boat building traditions in drawings, paintings and photographs.

Property Assistant, Lesley Strong says: "We are really looking forward to Mick’s exhibition as it explores the wider landscape and incredible views from A la Ronde over the passage of time. Many of the boats depicted would have sailed in the sheltered waters of the estuary and, when you look out from the bedroom window, you can easily imagine the busy scene of working boats plying their trade in and around the River Exe."

The exhibition can be seen free of charge in the stable and award winning tearooms at A la Ronde near Exmouth between from 14 to 26 March from 10.30am-5pm.
