"Fantastic Mr. Fox" - Butterscotch Sunday Film Screening

Butterscotch Sunday presents a special farmyard film screening of Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, featuring a story-telling trail of the farm, a local food BBQ and live music in support of The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, taking place at West Town Farm at 6pm on Sunday July 28th.

“Boggis, Bunce, and Bean;
One fat, one short, one lean.These horrible crooks,so different in looks,were nonetheless equally mean.”

If this rhyme brings back childhood memories of goose-liver doughnuts or a cantankerous badger then you may want to dig a tunnel that pops up under West Town Farm to catch our latest Butterscotch Sunday film screening of ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’. Roald Dahl’s classic tale of farmers and foxtails is given a unique re-telling by the whimsical director of ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ and ‘Moonrise Kingdom’, with the important and hilarious addition of a dissociative mole. Before the film, expect a guided story-telling trail around West Town Farm where you will meet the animals and enjoy a barbecue of food produced at the farm. When the film has ended there will be live music in the barn from Jake the Dog (tail-shaking encouraged).

This farmyard film festivity will take place at West Town Farm, on the evening of Sunday July 28th, beginning at 6pm. As always with Butterscotch Sunday, proceeds will benefit the local community. In this case we will be supporting The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, a charity offering long-term care and emergency help for farmers experiencing hardship in our region and beyond.

Here's the scoop:

Screening of ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox' (2009, PG):
A wily fox uses his formidable cunning to outsmart three feeble-minded farmers, who resort to extreme tactics to protect their chickens in director Wes Anderson's animated adaptation of the popular Roald Dahl children's book. For 12 years, Mr. and Mrs. Fox (voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep) have lived a peaceful life in the wilderness with their son, Ash (voice of Jason Schwartzman). Shortly after their young nephew Kristofferson (voice of Eric Anderson) arrives for a visit, Mr. Fox's long-suppressed animal instincts begin to take over and the faithful family man resorts back to his old ways as a cunning chicken thief, endangering not only his family but the entire animal community as well. Bill Murray, Michael Gambon, Willem Dafoe, and Owen Wilson provide additional voices.

Tickets £6 for adults, £4 for children, £15 for 2 adults and two children. Tickets can be purchased in advance from No Guts No Glory (McCoy’s Arcade, Fore Street), Pebblebed Cellar (Topsham) and the Love Local Food mobile van.
