Dancing in the Streets 2013

Dancing in the Streets Festival 2013 is back and ready to rumble! With talented local performers from dancers and singers to comedians and live music, Saturday 8th until Sunday 9th of June is set to rock the very heart of Exeter’s shopping capital, Princesshay.

The festival now in its fourth year was the first of its kind in Exeter and launched the now very popular community event space in Princesshay Square.

Dancing in the Streets welcomes people of all ages to experience the dancing festival vibe, inviting visitors to take part in Vibes Dance Company’s Swagga, Zumba, Bokwa and Ballroom dance workshops. Spectators can immerse themselves in the talents of local bands and solo performers. There really is something for everyone at this mini dance and music festival.

The popular “Comedy Flash Mob” Grannies are back! Making a re-appearance on Saturday 8th June at 3pm, giving people the chance to turn up in their Grannie’s favourite cardi and floral tabard too! The invitation to join in goes out to anyone and everyone, you don’t have to be a dancer to take part in the fun, iconic flash mob, set this year to Ant and Dec’s ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rumble’. Full details of the routine are available to view online at www.dancinginthestreetsfestival.com.

Headlining the music acts on Saturday at this year’s festival is Wille and the Bandits. The band, having toured their unique brand of roots rock with the likes of Deep Purple, Joe Bonamassa, The John Butler Trio and Status Quo, are originally from the South West and famous for creating an astonishingly huge sound, incorporating eclectic grooves from World music to Heavy Rock. Sunday’s headliners are returning talented local girl band Sound of the Sirens. Defining their style as ‘three girls, two guitars and a stompbox’ the awesome and talented trio of ladies deliver well written and catchy songs the crowds will love to sing along to.
