Come along to Amnesty International's second annual Clothes Swap in Exeter!

What:

The name clothes swap is pretty self-explanatory: donate clothes and you can take any items you fancy in return! Donating in advance means that you are able to get a reduced entry ticket on the day, or if you're unable to donate, turn up anyway and pay £4 entry to take part in the clothes swap. There will be coffee, cakes, and a live DJ, so even if you're not into clothes, there's still something for you!

All proceeds go towards the charities running their stalls and any clothes left over from the event will be donated to Refugee Aid from Taunton (RAFT) so in all ways, you will be supporting your local charities. We are also lucky enough to be supported by local businesses including Gloria's Art House and others that are yet to be confirmed.

If you'd like to donate any clothes in advance, feel free to contact me, Abi, at abigailmsmuts@gmail.com and we'll arrange somewhere to pick them up from you :)

Why:

The idea of a clothes swap is to reduce textile waste and encourage sustainable fashion. Did you know that the average consumer buys 60% more clothes in 2014 than in 200, but keeps each garment for half as long? Or that the fashion industry is responsible for more carbon emissions than international flights and maritime shipping combined?! This shows the growing need to wean ourselves off fast fashion and turn to sustainable and ethically sourced fashion. The clothes swap is the perfect way to introduce yourself to the concept!
