Exeter announces its bid to become the UK’s City of Culture in 2029 

Exeter City Council has today announced it will be submitting an expression of interest (EOI) for the prestigious UK City of Culture title. 

The City of Culture bid follows the culmination of five months extensive engagement and consultation with artists, creatives, cultural organisations and residents to shape the council’s commissioned new five-year Cultural Strategy for Exeter.

CEO appointed for Exeter BID

Exeter Business Improvement District (Exeter BID) is pleased to announce the appointment of the company’s first chief executive officer.

Craig Bulley, former Town Centre Manager of Barnstaple will take up the post from Monday 27th July.

Minute's silence for Tunisia dead

A national silence of one minute will be held today at 12pm in a mark of respect who lost their lives in the Tunisia beach attack.

The bodies of 17 of the 30 British victims have been returned to the UK and more are expected to be repatriated on today and tomorrow.

The Exeter PA Network played host to over 50 personal assistants (PAs), secretaries and support staff at its latest career enhancing event 'Time to Shine' on Thursday 25 June.

Exeter Chamber of Commerce has announced that actor and TV presenter Caroline Quentin will be the principle speaker at this year’s Exeter Business Dinner.

Stagecoach South West is joining forces with sustainable transport group Greener Journeys to promote the benefits of bus use through the third annual ‘Catch the Bus Week’.

Time is running out for local people to tell the independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England what they think of proposals for new county division boundaries across Devon.

The public consultation closes on 6 July 2015.

The Commission’s draft recommendations propose that Devon County Council should have 60 county councillors in the future, two fewer than the current arrangements. A weather warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Devon.

Met Office forecasters say isolated heavy, and possibly severe, thunderstorms are expected to develop on Friday evening across parts of England and Wales.

These are likely to become more frequent later and spread northwards towards southern Scotland.

Some torrential downpours are possible leading to localised surface water flooding, with large hail and frequent lightning also possible hazards.
