Exeter announces its bid to become the UK’s City of Culture in 2029 

Exeter City Council has today announced it will be submitting an expression of interest (EOI) for the prestigious UK City of Culture title. 

The City of Culture bid follows the culmination of five months extensive engagement and consultation with artists, creatives, cultural organisations and residents to shape the council’s commissioned new five-year Cultural Strategy for Exeter.

The managing partner of a leading Devon law firm has won the accolade of Managing Partner of the Year at a national legal awards.

Exeter’s railway wins trio of national awards

Exeter’s railway was a triple winner at the national Community Rail Awards held at Torquay’s Riviera International Centre on 1st October.

In front of an audience of more than 330 rail industry staff and volunteers, a campaign to promote the counties’ most scenic rail routes won first prize in the Marketing category. The campaign included the GreatScenicRailways.com website, a stall at London Paddington and an eye-catching advertising campaign. Premier Communication Electronics (PCE) has used its expertise to provide two-way radio solutions for Sandy Park, one of the Rugby World Cup 2015 venues.

Already radio providers to Exeter Chiefs and the stadium, PCE has used its knowledge of the award-winning rugby facility to deploy radio solutions that will be used by eight match day teams, including operations, transport and media staff, as well as ground staff at the Fan Zone in Northernhay Park.

It’s business as usual in Exeter’s Rugby World Cup 2015 Fanzone despite England not qualifying for the quarter finals of the Tournament.

The great atmosphere that has been enjoyed by more than 17,300 people continues in the Fanzone today (Wednesday 7 October) with Exeter’s second Host City match, Namibia versus Georgia being screened in Northernhay Gardens at 8pm.
