A new campaign aimed at tackling domestic abuse has been launched by Devon and Cornwall Police.

The campaign will highlight the fact that domestic abuse can happen to anyone, at any age, in any kind of relationship.

Messages around types of abuse are being communicated across the Force area to show the forms that domestic abuse can take, such as intimidation, financial control, psychological abuse and others.

80 per cent fall in plastic bag use

The number of plastic bags taken home by shoppers at Tesco stores in England has dropped by almost 80 per cent since a 5p levy was introduced according to a report

Supermarket bosses have declined to say how many 5p bags had been bought but said it was down 78% on the month before the charge, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The government brought in the charge in October to help reduce the amount of plastic waste.

A Devon County Show steward is preparing to embark on a 200-mile charity cycle ride from the showground in Exeter to London on Monday (December 7), to raise money to develop a new rural hub.

Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards, which will take place at the home of the Exeter Chiefs, Sandy Park, on 13th May 2016.

The Conservative Group on East Devon District Council has given its full backing to a proposed bid to establish a Heart Of The South West ‘powerhouse’.
