South West jobs optimism rebounding

The first quarter of 2016 has seen a boost of confidence within the jobs market in the South West with hiring intentions of +9% according to Manpower, the world’s workforce experts. This is a jump of seven percentage points from the last quarter.

The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is based on responses from 2,102 UK employers. It asks whether employers intend to hire additional workers or reduce the size of their workforce in the coming quarter. Fund available for disability support groups

As part of its Well Built Community Fund, RGB Building Supplies is calling out to groups that support those with disabilities to explain how £1,000 worth of building materials could help to complete a project.

Having pledged to giveaway £1,000 of materials every other month, RGB has recently supported a youth group, an animal welfare centre and a project to help the homeless.

Greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced aggressively and immediately because there are significant constraints to large-scale deployment of negative emissions technologies in the future, new research has shown.

The study by a team of international scientists, including Professor Pierre Friedlingstein from the University of Exeter, demonstrates the potential environmental, economic and energy impacts of negative emission technologies for addressing climate change.

City to play Liverpool in FA Cup third round

Exeter City have been drawn at home against Liverpool in the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Grecians have made it to this stage of the competition for the first time in a decade, and now the reward is a visit from Jurgen Klopp's Reds, a tie which looks to be the pick of the round.

Carer found guilty of fraud

The directors of a long established family-run home care agency today spoke of their shock and anger after a former member of staff was found guilty of fraud.

Melanie Harris, from Fremington, was convicted of the crime when she appeared before Exeter Crown Court.

Harris, aged 44, spent thousands of pounds belonging to a vulnerable client to support her own lifestyle.

Owners of small businesses across Exeter took to the streets in a specially-commissioned open top bus to spread their ‘shop local’ message to Christmas shoppers.

Stagecoach South West’s open top bus drove around the shopping areas on the outskirts of the city collecting owners of small businesses.
