Exeter Chamber of Commerce raised just under £1000 for 6 local charities at this year’s Christmas charity auction lunch, which was held at the Mercure Southgate Hotel. The auctioneer for the charitable event was Marc Ryan, presenter at Heart FM.

Items for auction included a Kindle Paperwhite, a Boeing 737-800 flight experience voucher, a vest worn by four-time Olympian, Jo Pavey, and the opportunity for two people to meet the Black Rhinos at Paignton Zoo.

Rail line disruption will get worse in the future

Rail services to and from the South West of England could be disrupted for more than 10 per cent of each year by 2040 and almost a third by 2100, a new study suggests.

Crash causes rush hour delays in Exeter

A collision on Pinhoe Road caused delays in Exeter on Monday evening (21 December).

The incident, involving a tractor and trailer, happened at around 5pm near Warwick Way.

One fire engine from Middlemoor was sent to deal with the incident.

Upon arrival, crews found a tractor and trailer involved in a collision, with a large amount of animal food spilt all over the highway and pavement.

Crews requested the use of the fire dog to check the animal feed in case anyone was trapped underneath the animal feed. The fire dog searched the food but did not find anyone...

Exe Estuary Trail goes solar

Solar lights now illuminate the path of the Exe Estuary Trail between Exmouth and Lympstone thanks to a joint project costing more than £26,000 between Exmouth Town and Lympstone Parish Councils.

The work, funded by East Devon District and Devon County Councils, means that people who use the route can do so safely and stay healthy and fit too. The Trail is popular with cyclists and walkers, both for leisure and for commuting between Exmouth and Exeter, and many of these journeys are made in the dark, particularly in the winter months.

Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines MBE will once again be teaming up with Sandy Park’s Head Chef Denis Turner in the Sandy Park kitchen in March, for the second Gourmet Evening in aid of the Exeter Foundation.

RSPCA appeal after dog left tied to gate

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a young, female Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog was left tied to a gate in a secluded spot on Old Tiverton Road in Bampton, Devon, last Thursday (10 December).

The small, mostly black and white dog, who is thought to be around two to three years old, was initially discovered by a member of the public at around 6am on the morning of 10 December.

As the school holidays start and the Christmas holidays get underway Exeter Airport is expecting to deal with over 20,000 passengers over the two week festive period.

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight at landing the signing of Australian international Greg Holmes for next season.

Baxter today confirmed he had finalised terms with the Queensland Reds tight-head on a two-year deal.
