Exeter Cathedral’s 300,000 piece LEGO® re-build

The first bricks in Exeter Cathedral’s Big LEGO® Build will be laid next week at a special ceremony to launch the project.

The Bishop of Exeter Robert Atwell will be joined by the winners of a Devon-wide schools’ competition to get the epic LEGO build underway, just in time for half term.

The final model, made up of 300,000 LEGO bricks, will be an impressive 3.6m long, 2m wide and 1m high.

Rogue traders who targeted elderly jailed

Three men found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the vulnerable and elderly for shoddy and unnecessary home repair work, were sentenced today at Exeter Crown Court in a case brought by Devon and Somerset Trading Standards Service.

Thomas Maughan, 27, and Thomas Mahon, 46, were each sent to prison for 12 months for their part in the fraud.

Both had pleaded not guilty but were convicted after an eight day trial.

Princesshay and Exeter BID are pleased to announce their support and commitment to the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, a local organisation established in 2015.

People in Exeter are being given the chance to quiz councillors on any key issues for the city.

Exeter residents are invited to put forward questions to members of the joint County and City Councils' Exeter Board, at their next meeting on 17 February at 5:30pm at the Civic Centre in Paris Street.

The Board allocates 15 minutes for their ‘open forum’, with three minutes per speaker, with a maximum of three to four speakers to allow time for discussion.

The magnificent nave of Exeter Cathedral, which houses the longest continuous vaulted ceiling in Europe, is to return to its medieval roots for the hosting of a Spring Fair. The event is sponsored by Bonhams and takes place on Thursday 10th March 2016. New park and ride site planned near A30

An application for a new Park and Ride site serving Exeter is due to be submitted next week (w/c 8 February).

The proposed 556-space “Round Field” Park and Ride facility, next to the A30 slip road on the south west outskirts of the city, will go before the County Council's Development Management Committee later in the year – with April being the earliest it would be considered.
