Bridge Road overnight closures warning

The first overnight closures of the Bridge Road widening scheme will take place next week.

The night-time road closures will enable site staff to safely establish the necessary traffic management to reduce the road to one lane each way.

Bridge Road will be closed from 10pm on Monday (22 February) and will re-open at 5am the following morning (Tuesday 23 February) with one lane open in each direction.

To complete the traffic management, the road will then close again at 10pm on Tuesday (23 February), re-opening at 5am the next day (Wednesday 24 February).

Police are seeking this careless driver who ploughed into a line of traffic cones, leading to a pile-up on the A38 in Plymouth.

The hit-and-run driver was caught on camera striking the traffic cone barrier at road works near Marsh Mills. Their actions resulted in a three-vehicle collision further back on the carriageway - but fortunately no-one was seriously hurt.

Police have now released the footage in an attempt to trace the driver who left the scene without calling for help.

Human rights campaigning organisation Liberty is concerned that Exeter City Council’s proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) will criminalise the city’s most vulnerable people.

The University of Exeter has received a slice of £23.2 million in Government funding for cutting-edge medical research to ensure academics can work with industry to ensure their research transforms medical care.

Science Minister Jo Johnson has today announced further financial support from the Medical Research Council for innovative work, which will help thousands of patients.
