Exeter Racecourse hosted its first networking event of the year with a sell-out gathering that was buzzing with enthusiasm, as businesses from across the region came together full of optimism for the year ahead. Delegates enjoyed a productive morning of networking, followed by afternoon racing.

Have your say on Exeter's new bus station

People are being reminded that they can have their say on plans for a new bus station in Exeter at an open forum on Thursday (3 March).

Exeter City Council will be holding the event at the Corn Exchange in Exeter between 8am and 5.30pm.

The Council want to hear from members of the public and interested groups to inform the concept design of the new bus station. The Council want to hear people's views on:

• user facilities • coach arrangements • on street bus stops • arrangements during construction

Devon County Council will host Stage Six of The Tour of Britain, on Friday 9 September.

The world’s top cycling teams and riders will race from Sidmouth on the East Devon coast to the summit of Haytor on Dartmoor. British Cycling’s premier road cycling event will take in Sidmouth, Ottery St Mary, Honiton, Willand, Tiverton, Crediton, Moretonhampstead, Haldon Forest, and Chudleigh before climbing from Bovey Tracey to the only summit finish of The Tour.

A leading local law firm has been ranked number 12 in the influential Sunday Times list of the top 100 mid-sized firms to work for – and won an award for most improved company, as well as being the highest ranked law firm nationally on the list.

Community organisations across Devon are being reminded that they have just a further three weeks in which to enter the Prince of Wales award, and with it the chance of winning £1,000 to boost their funds.

Exeter City Council’s Housing Strategy will go before members of its Scrutiny Community Committee on 1 March.

Teignbridge budget builds resilience for future

Final budget decisions outline how Teignbridge District Council will continue to face up to increased demand for services and reduced central funding.

At a meeting of the Full Council on Tuesday 23 February it was agreed to increase its share of the council tax by an extra £5 per year. This means the Teignbridge share of the bill will be £155.17 in the coming financial year - an increase of 3.33%. This represents an increase of just 9.6p per week on a Band D property.

It is the first time since 2010 that Teignbridge has increased its share of the council tax.

A total of 369 men have already signed up for next month’s Hospiscare Men’s Walk starting at Exeter’s Double Locks pub and finishing with a FREE pint and a pasty.

New contractor for East Devon recycling and waste service

East Devon residents will be at the forefront of one of the most innovative recycling and waste services in the country following the district council’s decision to award its new collection contract to current operators SUEZ (formerly SITA UK).
