Motorcross bikes stolen in Devon burglary

Police are appealing for information following a burglary from a garage on Decoy Road on Thursday 10 March between 3am and 5am.

With an estimated value of over £14,600, thieves drilled out locks and cut padlocks to gain entry to the garage. Once inside, they have cut chains to remove the bikes.

The three Motorcross bikes (pictured) were a red Honda 450, a yellow Suzuki 250 and a yellow/lime coloured Honda 250- this colour bike is particularly unusual as Honda 450’s are normally red.

Four pedal bikes were also taken; a white Scott Gambler, a blue and white Giant...

A396 near Cove to open under traffic control

Early morning commuters will be able to use the A396, north of Cove, Tiverton, every day from the end of this week until the completion of road works in May.

The round-the-clock closure of the A396 to enable a new safety barrier to be built, is scheduled to come to an end on Thursday evening, March 24th.

From then until the completion of the works, scheduled for May 14th, 2016, the A396 will be open to traffic under two-way traffic lights, either all day or during the rush hour and evening periods.

Allotment waiting lists slashed in Exeter

The number of people waiting for an allotment in Exeter has been dramatically reduced from 804 last summer to just 131 in February, the City Council has revealed.

The reduction has been due to a quicker turnaround of vacant sites and the dividing up of plots to make them more manageable for first-time growers.

Cllr Keith Owen, Lead Councillor for Health and Place, said he was delighted that more people than ever before were having an opportunity to tend an allotment and that the waiting list had been reduced.

For the first time the Devon County Show has launched Spring gift cards to celebrate the season and offer recipients a ‘big day out’ in May.

Tickets for the 121st Show on May 19, 20 and 21 at Westpoint, Exeter can be purchased inside a choice of two gift cards designed by a local artist.

Mary King MBE, multi medal winner for her equestrian achievements spanning three decades, is to become a Deputy Lieutenant of Devon.

New modern bus station is top of bus users wish list

Bus users in Exeter have welcomed the provision on a new, modern bus station with up-to-date facilities in the heart of the city centre.

That’s the general feeling according to feedback from a recent open forum attended by 650 people.

More than 550 feedback forms have already been returned to the City Council following the event at the Corn Exchange earlier in the month (3 March). Trinity Fire & Security Systems is increasing its presence at Heathrow Airport with two contracts covering maintenance and a replacement installation, worth in excess of £15 million.

The fire, life safety and security systems specialist, whose head office is in Clyst St Mary near Exeter, is to provide a maintenance contract for Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) over the next five years.

A TEAM of Devon builders has developed an eye for the tiniest detail after winning a contract to repair one of the south west’s most prestigious properties.
