More than one in ten of employers in the South West are likely to make staff redundancies in the year ahead, according to a new survey.

The new study, commissioned by workplace experts Acas and carried out by YouGov, shows that 10% of businesses based in the South West are likely to make redundancies in the next 12 months.

As part of a green initiative to reduce carbon emissions, Propiteer Hotels is installing solar panels at Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport.

Propiteer Hotels owns and manages Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport and is investing £160,000 to install the latest solar Photovoltaic technology onto the roof of the Exeter hotel.

The 164Wp solar panels will deliver up to 20% of the hotel’s electricity consumption, eliminating 77,000kg of CO2 emissions annually; equating to two million tonnes over the 25-year life of the technology.

Stagecoach has announced that it has appointed Peter Knight to manage its bus operations in the south-west. Peter, who is currently Managing Director of Stagecoach Bluebird running bus and coach services across the north-east of Scotland, will take over as Managing Director of Stagecoach South West in December.
