Man prosecuted for fly-tipping in Devon woods

Teignbridge District Council has successfully prosecuted a man after a large amount of waste was dumped in woodland.

South Devon Magistrates, sitting in Torquay, ordered Oliver McShane to pay a total of £1,365.98 for flytipping waste including carpet, a toilet, guttering, a bath, DIY waste and rubble, at Grammercombe Woods, Ashcombe in June 2015.

Bike stolen from garden in St Thomas

Police are appealing for the public’s help following a bike theft in St Thomas.

A green Diamondback ‘Remix’ BMX similar to the one pictured was stolen from a back garden in the St. Thomas area of Exeter between 12th and 15th August.

The bicycle is worth around £250 brand new. If anyone has been offered a bicycle like this for sale recently, or has seen it abandoned police would like to hear from you.

Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education has announced exciting plans to build a new world class Deaf Academy on the former Rolle College campus in Exmouth. Dog allegedly thrown from car on A38

Police attended the services near Kennford, Exeter at around 2pm today after reports of a dog being thrown from a vehicle on the A38.

A black King Charles Spaniel was found injured in the area with suspected broken legs and has been since taken to the vets for treatment.

At this time, police only have third hand reports of how the dog came to be on the road and how it sustained its injuries.

Dawlish cracks down on antisocial behaviour

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has been introduced in Dawlish, sending out a strong message that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.

The Dawlish PSPO is the first of its kind in Devon and Cornwall.

PSPOs are intended to specifically target and deal with specific particular nuisance or problems in a particular area but also ensure the law-abiding majority can enjoy public places, safe from antisocial behaviour.

Parking charges for longer stays in Exeter set to go down

Exeter City Council has unveiled proposals for new car parking tariffs designed to encourage people to stay longer in the city.

Motorists parking in the city centre's three 'Premier' car parks - Guildhall, Mary Arches and John Lewis - will see a reduced rate if they stay for longer. Four hours will come down from £6.50 to £5 and from £11.80 to £7 for a six hour stay.

Those parking in short stay car parks will see a reduction in charges across the board. A one hour stay will be reduced from £1.20 to £1, while a four hour stay will go down from £5.70 to £4.
